42B Lot 20 thru 22 Replacement Solenoid Valves

VALVE MODIFICATIONS NEEDED

Part number 905766 (Parker Valve)

Lucas part number 905766 will require two minor modifications to serve in replacement duty on machine serial numbers 42B2001 thru 42B2224 due to an internal design change by Parker Hannifin.

The first modification consists simply of grinding off (4) small 'bosses' that locate the solenoid assembly and drilling and tapping (4) holes (approx 10-32) at the location of the former 'bosses'.  The older-style valves mounted the coil assembly with (4) small screws. The newer style valve uses the 'bosses' to locate the coil assembly, but actually hold the coil in place with the plastic solenoid 'cap'.  In the area where this valve is used on the referenced machines, the valve cannot be mounted with the solenoid 'cap' in place.  The cap must be removed and discarded. The screws are necessary to hold the valve coil in-place when the cap is discarded.

The second modification consists of machining away a portion of the solenoid cap mounting plate on the newer valve to permit the machine tool’s cover to be re-installed.  The newer valve is ‘thicker’ than the original valve due to the addition of the solenoid cap and the added provision of a pipe-tapped location for the connection of wiring conduit.  These additional ‘features’ are unnecessary on the referenced machines and must be removed from the new valve.  It is recommended to remove them by either milling the extra material away or by simply sawing off the additional portion of the mounting plate.
