Manatrol Valve Replacements
Lucas owners with model 41B and 42B machines need to take several additional steps to replace obsolete Manatrol-brand, electrical solenoid-operated hydraulic valves when valve replacement is required.
- The modern replacement valves are very slightly longer than the old, original valves that they replace. Height and width dimensions are exactly the same, as are certain of the mounting and port dimensions.
- The new valves also require the use of a transition adapter mounting plate since the mounting dimensions and the mechanical 'port' layout is different. The adapter required is normally supplied with the new valve from Lucas as part of a 'kit'.
- It will be also be necessary for owners of 41B and 42B machines to cut a large hole into the sheet metal cover over the Feed Gear Bracket to permit the mounting of the newer valves, since the new valves are 'taller' than the old valves. We suggest cutting the hole large enough upon replacement of the initial failed valve to permit the eventual replacement of all of the valves.
- Since the new valves are wired from the TOP instead of the bottom, it will also be necessary to re-route the wiring accordingly.
